An exciting Get Cooking! open evening has been planned for Tuesday 1st April 6- 7.30pm at Leeds East Academy to celebrate and promote the work of this new Leeds initiative.
If you haven’t come across Get Cooking! then this is a new Community Interest Company in Leeds running ‘accessible’ cooking courses designed to particularly meet the needs of people living with a range of impairments, including those with learning disabilties and interested in developing independent living skills. The courses are carefully designed and structured to allow people to learn and build on skills each week. It is about simple gorgeous food. Emily Carey, Director of Get Cooking! whose background is Specialist Disability Social Work, has utilised her skills and knowledge and of course her passion for cooking and enjoying food!
She advises these are not just courses for people with disabilities but open to anyone who wants to learn some basic cooking skills to be able to cook some simple good dishes for themselves, friends or family. The programme they provide includes Supported Courses as well as First Time (Faster Pace) Cooking courses and holiday courses for young people.
The open evening is planned to be a fun and sociable event where you can enjoy a glass of Prosecco and a bite to eat, see some customers in action, get some information about Get Cooking! and hear some live music.
If you would like to receive an invitation for this event please contact Emily

RSVP’s are required by 24th March.
